A new single release from Caitlin Lavagna delivers a very unique brand of honesty that has a wonderful way of coming through so insanely relatable that a lot of lines in the song feel like they're meant for you and I feel that when a connection like that is made an artist is really giving a piece of herself to the song because she's being so straightforward and giving off so much inner thought.
"Pretty Alright" is a wonderful track that certainly portrays tons of character and does so in the form of this pop-coated and almost rock undertone that has an amazing blend of edginess and color which both attribute to that character and personality that shines through on the single.
This song takes elements of pop rock and a bit of a commercial pop vibe and puts them together to build an atmosphere that is pretty much all its own but again, it's the lyrics and how they're delivered that really grabs you and lets you get engulfed in this single.
I love songs that give off this bit of edgy honesty because you know that this came from someplace real which makes the song super authentic and taking those kinds of lyrics that can be a little bit dark if you think about it and bringing them into such a bright pop atmosphere is something I've always loved.
Those kinds of things make me think of bands like the cure for example who used to write lyrics that were a bit sad but pretty honest and they would be performed with the poppiest music you've ever heard.
This track speaks volumes for Caitlin as an artist and as a person because she's able to give such a driving vocal performance throughout the whole song with bursts of harmonies and lots of soul but again, all coated in pop so it comes through so catchy and memorable to the point where that hook is bouncing around in your head for hours after the song has ended and the only way to say she ate that is to listen to it again.
A lot does come down to the energy level of this track and it is completely electric so when you listen to the song it's got that gusto and it gets your blood pumping in a strange way because her vivacious performance is kind of infectious and when the song ends you want it to keep going.
Caitlin is certainly an artist that lets you into her head and when I first heard the song, I felt like it was probably cathartic for her to actually write and release so that once it's off her chest, it's off her chest and she can let it go.
I think it's also brave to release a song that's got that much honesty to it, and I think some of the things that she sings in the song, if you listen, are not easy things to let out in the open.
I don't think it's very easy for a lot of people to say it was hard to get out of bed this morning.
Those are the kinds of thoughts you just keep to yourself for the most part that's why I think when an artist gives that much, yes, it can be cathartic but for the listener, it can be relatable and understandable and for some people it may even let them feel like they're not alone in those kinds of inner thoughts or struggles.
A song like this can go a long way in the right ears and Caitlin has done an amazing job of putting it out there in a way that lets her presence as an artist really thrive.
An excellent track that has opened our eyes to Caitlin Lavagna and we are definitely going to be paying a bit more attention to the things that she releases from here on out.
Take a listen to this track and see how it affects you.
