An album release from Another Joe delivers an impactful and classic cross of righteous punk rock along with some alternative rock and it all comes along with a less personality that is something you end up really getting attached to pretty quickly.
The Ready or Not album has a massive Sonic drive and presents to it and it all comes together extremely well to the point where it gives you the feeling of a live performance and this is mainly due to not just the riffs but the energy of the whole thing.
The energy of this record from beginning to end is completely electric and it makes you think that maybe some of these songs were recorded live on the floor to an extent because it feels a lot like these guys were feeding off of each other the entire time and that's why these songs come through with such a punch.
Now, I could be completely wrong about that of course but either way, listening to this record makes you want to go see them live because if they can capture this kind of energy like that then seeing them live must be intense.
Some of the things I really love about this record is the sheer fact that they seem to really capture this sort of cross between '80s and '90s and early 2000s punk rock aesthetics really well and you can hear the different influences in the songs as the record unfolds.
You get plenty of honesty, a little bit of aggression, but there's as much color as there is edginess across this record.
The guitar tone is absolutely stellar and really adds a massive drive to the album and this is one of those records that you want to listen to from beginning to end because yes, listening to one or two songs may give you a gist of what you can expect but it does not give you the full spectrum of what the album has to offer as a whole.
There are surprises around the corners, amazing riffs throughout the record that kind of blew you away at times but still have that classic and familiar punk and alternative rock soundscape, but there's also some great inventiveness and the whole record hits like a sucker punch to the gut.
I love this sort of youthful aspect of this record as well and I feel like some of these songs are like chapters in someone's life and that makes a lot of the tracks very relatable in different ways.
There's certainly no holding back and that's a staple in any kind of real punk rock music. Being able to release a record that's got no real boundaries or walls built around it so that you can say what you really want and do it in a way that will hit hard and be memorable.
The bass guitar tone on this record also screams classic '80s and '90s punk as it's sharp but thick at the same time and has a way of cutting through certain aspects of the music so that you really can hear that rattle.
Again, these guys really captured an amazing aesthetic by blending different decades of that punk rock but they also take some alternative rock as I mentioned earlier and plenty of other subgenres of heavy rock music but those are more hinted at while the punk aspect is really on the forefront.
Listening to punk drumming can make me tired sometimes just because I know how much energy it takes to really put that drive and push to the songs and to keep up with punk music on the drums is no easy feat.
This is an amazing drummer that really kept up that energy super well and, in a way, indeed pushed the rest of the band the way he should.
The vocalist is also really killer in terms of matching that energy level and adding some unique and animated sort of aggression to the vocals while being honest on different levels throughout different songs.
I think some of that honesty in the lyrics really adds to that personality I was mentioning earlier, and this gives the whole album a thick and full-bodied character that you don't only relate to, but you really understand as well.
This album was endlessly fun, it had tons of charisma, loads of unstoppable energy, classic threshing punk rock greatness, memorable hooks and choruses, and it's a fists in the air, head-banging, or jumping around the living room type of record so move your couch back and turn this up.
Dive into this record as soon as you can and see what I mean by how they blend those decades of punk rock together to create something that's super memorable.
