A Lush and Classic EP from DuncanC

An EP release from DuncanC delivers a beautiful but unique brand of honesty while blending it into songs that cross genuine and pure classic rock, indie rock, singer-songwriter, folk, and more. What's special about this record is its authentic and natural approach because it's got a real piano on it, it's got acoustic and electric guitars, and it blends this sort of color with a little hint of edginess at times which I really enjoyed because it's never over the top and the whole record is extremely well balanced in terms of the tonality and the vocal approach.

The LDR EP is beautifully crafted and there's so much personality and character just flowing through the veins of this record that you can't help but get attached to all of that as well. This may actually be the most important aspect of the entire thing honestly.

These songs get honest and are very personal at times and the way he lays his lyrics out just puts everything right in front of the listener.

One of the things I adore about this record is that genuine classic rock influence because that is very strong throughout this release, and it's done with such a heart and gorgeous flocks of instrumentation that you can't help but get pulled into this record even though it's a short one.

This is definitely an EP that you need to listen to in full. It's only three tracks long so there's no reason not to but, if you listen to all three tracks the whole thing makes a lot more sense.

There are things about these songs that make me think of artists like Elliott Smith or the Beatles for example and I feel like DuncanC has been sitting around like a secret treasure that's finally been let loose into the indie music community and I'm certainly glad because these songs are insanely worth listening to.

The last track on the record called "Butterflies" is an instrumental featuring a piano, acoustic guitar, and some underlying guitar sections as well, and it has this lush and almost cinematic feel to it, but it also lends a hand to a little bit of jazz.

There are a lot of different things that must Inspire DuncanC to write these kinds of songs but it's just refreshing to hear a record created for the sake of creating.

This was for DuncanC and no one else. It's beautifully done but also has no walls built around it and fewer boundaries than the norm and I feel like that's something we need in music now.

This helps music become more of an art form again rather than just creating cookie-cutter songs that fit the bill for everyone to process.

These are very well-woven pieces of music that definitely took attention to detail but never loses that personality, heart, or character throughout the entire thing.

I think that may be what we're missing the most of these days. Personality in music. Character in music.

So many artists want to put on a mask and be someone else because it's their music. Artists like DuncanC use their music as a form of honesty and realness.

This is part of the beauty of an EP like this one. It just doesn't happen often so when you come across something like this it's almost rejuvenating in its own way.

"Laying Bare" is, in my opinion, the best track of the lot because it's got amazing vocals on it and hit certain soft spots for me in terms of the progression, the lyrics, and how the holding is put together.

I love that there's more piano on this record than I would have thought. I think there's as much piano as there is guitar and I love that combination. Those two textures go together so well especially when it's acoustic guitar and piano.

This EP was like a love letter to the groups that inspired him to do music in the first place and those influences come shining through with each note played.

Again, a beautifully crafted EP that should be listened to with headphones on so you can soak it all in, have a listen to LDR right now.
