A Personal Album Release from Sara Indrio

Writer: R.A.G.R.A.G.

A gorgeous album release from Sara Indrio delivers such a lush and unique approach with a particular way of blending some of the best elements of indie pop, dream pop, and even alternative pop and rolling those into one big record that expresses so much inner thought and personality that you can't turn away.

The Observer album covers a lot of ground and one of the best parts of it all is that it's got loads of character built into it. It is super honest and indeed does let loads of inner thoughts spill out for everyone to soak in.

You don't need to struggle to pay attention to the lyrics on this record. She can get so descriptive and detailed with them that you get soaked into the imagery that pops up in your head as songs unfold.

This is something that happens right off the bat with the very first song, "Goodbye Stockholm".

One of the things that took me by surprise about this record is the fact that this first song is a beautifully woven acoustic, singer-songwriter-style track that expands a little bit with added notes and textures that float through the song's ether building a bit of a cinematic drive but, listening to that one track gives you nowhere near the spectrum of what the album entails are encompasses.

Each track on this record gets more and more expansive, experimental, and even more cinematic if you ask me.

The following track is called "Lovescarred", and it's with this track that you begin to feel that experimental backbone and how she is creating songs with fewer boundaries than you may be used to.

The track starts to build with vocal harmonies, vast underbellies, and unique percussion that gives it added drive and helps push a little bit of that alternative tonality.

All of this still, with this human touch that lets her character seep through with every word.

Now, there are other, singer-songwriter and folk approached tracks on this record that lay in between others that showcase her slightly edgy side.

When I say this, I mean production-wise because her lyrics are always very upfront, paint pictures, and are truthful.

Listening to this record is like reading a book, and it feels like each of these tracks serves as a chapter in that book. Perhaps they are more like chapters of her life.

She also comes through with some amazing and unique lyrical phrasing at times that help build the rhythm of certain songs like "I Remember You" which lets the lyrics bounce between the rhythm that starts showcasing itself later on.

It's all very well arranged, and you can tell there's a lot of attention to detail during the creation of this record however, it never loses that character or personality that it begins with and that may be the most important aspect of the entire thing.

There's so much to attach yourself to with those lyrics that you end up realizing that this is a record meant to be heard in full. This is an album to be listened to from beginning to end.

If you don't then you won't get the full picture. You also won't get a full grasp or understanding of all the different elements and textures that the record portrays and delivers.

It feels like certain aspects of this record could have been very cathartic for Sara to write and release but for whoever's listening, it could be very relatable.

She's a very good storyteller with loads of inner thought and descriptive approaches that become connective when you listen.

This is a beautiful record, and it was performed with heart. Her vocals can be soft and subtle but deliver unique Melodies and styles that stick with you for long after songs have ended.

Listening to this whole album is like an experience. It's like an escape that is fun to take because it pulls you away from wherever you are and whatever you're doing and puts you in her world for a chunk of time.

This is something you don't get often so when it comes around it's quite refreshing honestly.

It's a nine-track release that spans about half an hour so it's amazing by the time you get to the end because you realize there was so much packed into that half an hour.

So much experience, honesty, description, situation, personality, and more.

This was one of the more expressive and vulnerable records I've heard in quite some time and it made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

It was welcoming to me.

Sara Indrio is an artist who gives pieces of herself when she writes a song and this album is a perfect portrayal of exactly that.

Beautiful crosses of indie pop, dream pop, singer-songwriter, folk, and a little bit of edginess lay just beneath the surface of it all.

Take a deep dive into this record when you can and do it wearing headphones so you can really soak in everything that's going on.

Remember where you heard it first.
