A Soulful Live Performance from NSS and The MCJ Band

Updated: Dec 17, 2024

A new single release from NSS not only delivers a soulful performance but comes through with a beautiful energy that you end up getting attached to. A lot of this has to do with the fact that this is a live recording, and the energy of the performance is something that really goes above and beyond in terms of giving off a lot of passion and heart.

"Sure Got Cold After the Rain Fell (Live)" shines because you can tell everyone there has a real love for being in the moment and performing the song in front of people.

You can feel the energy from the crowd while you listen and how they react to the performance is as vibrant as the band themselves.

This is the type of track that makes you want to go see the band perform it live yourself as well. It's not hard to hear the soul oozing out of every note.

This track is based in blues, soul pop, and classic rock but those are just the genres that sit on the forefront and really give this track a certain kind of aesthetic in essence. The song certainly manages to bring other genres to light.

This song has an almost vintage songwriting style to it. The sound beckons something from the mid to late seventies and I love that feeling because they pull it off really well in terms of blending that in with the classic rock and the blues.

The guitar work is really amazing throughout this track with great rhythms and a great guitar solo that lands perfectly even in this live setting.

There's just a lot of love throughout this performance and the crowd does become very reactive to that.

One of the things that really beef this song up is the organs. That organ performance is stellar and really just lets this song thrive and give it that thickness and classic rock drive it was meant to have.

There is no empty space in this track. It is all pure energy and pure soul, and this is something that you don't get often.

The vocals are belting, robust, vivacious, and they add this additional heaviness which is a beautiful thing with a song like this because of its emotional drive.

As I mentioned earlier, most people might dub this song a blues single but by letting some other influences come into play, it is expanded past just that one genre.

There's something about recording a live performance that just feels different which does come down to that energy and by the time that guitar solo hits, the whole crowd is engulfed in the song.

This is bringing together NSS and The MCJ Band, and this is an awesome collaboration because you can tell that everyone's having a blast. They did this because they all have a love for their crafts.

Now, if you're not too familiar with the musical stylings of NSS then this is a great way to kind of get a feel for it all.

Noel Stefan Stoyanoff is known for being a producer, and even a hired gun as a studio and live bass player, but as an artist, singer and songwriter, NSS is his baby, and you can hear all the different Inspirations and influences throughout his music if you take a minute to go listen to some previous records as well.

Another track released this year called "Star Gazer" also has this robust rock feel but shows a slightly different side to his artistry and approach to songwriting.

As matter of fact, there's a few other releases dropped in 2024 that you should definitely be listening to along with singles from 2023, and it keeps going all the way back to 2006.

There are more than enough releases to listen to all day long. It's really fun to peel back the layers and listen to his evolution of a songwriter.

There is no one specific solid genre that NSS falls under, and I think that I like that.

Have a listen to this single for yourself, and while you're at it, check out some of those previous releases because if you like this track, then you're going to dig a lot of the studio recordings.
