A new single release from NSS not only delivers an impactful sort of soul performance but comes through with a beautiful energy that you end up really soaking in and getting attached to. A lot of this has to do with the fact that this is a live recording and the performance is something that really goes above and beyond in terms of giving off a lot of passion and heart.
"Sure Got Cold After the Rain Fell (Live)" shines and does so because you can tell everyone there has a real love for what they're doing. Being in the moment and performing the song live in front of people so that they can soak it in.
Everyone in that room is there to feel something and I'm positive that they did because you can feel it when you listen to the song on record.
This is the type of track that makes you want to go see it live right in your face as well because you can hear that Soul just oozing out of every note.
This track is based in blues, soul pop, and classic rock along with more but those are the genres that sit on the forefront and really give this track a certain kind of aesthetic in essence.
It's got a sort of classic and almost vintage style songwriting to it that beckons something from the mid to late seventies and I love that feeling and that vibe because they pull it off really well in terms of blending that in with the classic rock and the blues.
The guitar work is really amazing throughout this track and even during the live performance the guitar solo is spot on it has love behind it.
There's just a lot of love throughout this performance and the crowd is really feeling it too as you can hear on the track itself.
One of the things that really beef this song up and embody the culturally classic style of this track is the organs. That organ performance is stellar and really just let this song thrive and give it that thickness that it's meant to have.
There is no empty space in this track. It is all pure energy and pure soul, and this is something that you don't get often.
The vocals are belting and robust, vivacious, vibrant, and they let the song have this additional heaviness which is a beautiful thing with a song like this because it's so, kind of emotionally driven.
As I mentioned earlier, this is very blues oriented. And it's genuine at that so you really end up feeling this track in your bones especially that live performance essence and how it makes you feel like you are there in the moment as well.
There's something about recording a live performance that just feels different. I'm positive it is that energy in part, but the way that the band is just in the moment during that you can feel that intensity and soak in the crowd.
This is bringing together NSS and The MCJ Band, and for me, this is an awesome collaboration because you can tell that everyone's having a ball.
This is something that everyone wanted to do, and the people involved did an amazing job of feeding off of each other's energies during this performance and anyone in that room can feed off of that as well.
Now, if you're not too familiar with the musical stylings of NSS then this is a great way to kind of get a feel for it all.
Nolen Stefan Stoyanoff has done everything from being a software and recording engineer, producer, and even I hired gun as a studio and live bass player, but as an artist, singer and songwriter, NSS is his baby and you can feel all the different Inspirations and influences throughout his music if you take a minute to go listen to some previous records as well.
Another track released this year called "Star Gazer" also has this robust rock feel but comes through a little different and shows a slightly different side and approach to his songwriting.
Doesn't matter of fact, there's a few other releases dropped in 2024 that you should definitely be listening to along with singles from 2023, 2022 and it keeps going all the way back to 2006.
There are more than enough releases to listen to all day long and it's really fun to do that peel back the layers, listen to the evolution of a songwriter, and have fun doing it.
There is no one specific solid genre that NSS falls under, and I think that I like that.
Have a listen to this single for yourself and while you're at it check out some of those previous releases because if you like this track, then you're going to dig some of the studio recording stuff as well.
As for this one, it turned out amazing especially for a live performance. All that intensity is right there.
