A Vast and Cinematic New Single from Vanessa Bejine

The latest single from Vanessa Bejine comes through with a vast and expansive undertone in the form of a robust and freeing but completely honest pop soundscape and throughout its unfolding, you start to get a grasp of her personality and character as an artist which is something you end up really liking.

"Renegade" is a gorgeous track that has a way of slowly swelling and coming through with waves of intensity that feel like a cinematic landscape and while this is happening you sort of get wrapped up and everything.

It is indeed very easy to become engulfed by this track and it feels good to do just that because it has a wonderful way of swimming around in the air that surrounds you and letting you get washed away with it by the end.

I certainly enjoy how the track is arranged because it has a great build to it and by the end of it, it still has that vastness and its undertone but also a little bit more drive and edginess as well.

There's also some brilliant synth and key work throughout this track that beckons classic vintage '80s pop and synthwave music as well and I feel like that's part of this aesthetic.

The music of this track is almost post-apocalyptic in its own way and that's what I mean by cinematic as well. It's like an old school, 1980s sci-fi film end credits track and it works so well in that facet.

Of course, she blends in a lot of current soundscapes as well and her vocal approach is just beautiful throughout this track because it serves almost like an instrument itself adding textures and Melodies to the song and building on that atmosphere that you get sucked right into.

You can tell there was a lot of attention to detail during the creation of this track especially the production side of things because there are layers that sit atop each other and all of them together and how they are arranged, is what let's this atmosphere build and sway.

The entire song feels alive and breathing in its own way and that's something that's unique.

Not only was this most enjoyable but it also served as a great escape because it pulls you away from your surroundings and puts you in this entire other place for a little chunk of time and I feel like that's a gift.

Vanessa has a unique approach to her pop music and there is this sort of ethereal and almost spiritual underbelly to everything she does which comes through with a brilliant light and color a lot of the time.

Her vocals are floating, angelic, and even haunting at times but that depends on the aesthetic of the song.

Upon listening to this one I took a little bit of a deep dive into her back catalog on Spotify and I'm certainly glad that I did because there is a handful of outstanding releases starting from 2016 and each one shows a little bit of a different side to who she is as a person and to her artistry as well.

I find it very interesting to follow the evolution of her sound from then until now and the directions she's been taking really works well for her.

You can tell that she's becoming more free with her music and she's releasing songs with fewer boundaries than you may be used to.

This to me, is the true mark of an artist who is creating music for the sake of creating it or creating art for the sake of creating it.

I would suggest you listen to this track with headphones on so you can soak in everything that's floating around in the ether of the song along with all the beautiful textures and vibrant undertones that are happening.

Have a good listen to this track and see what it does for you.
