A Vast and Edgy Single from Glass Aeros

A single release from Glass Aeros delivers a very vast and expansive alternative rock soundscape that comes with a haunting undertone and a sort of beautiful edginess to it that beckons and almost cinematic backbone and comes with hints of nostalgia for someone like me who grew up listening to this sort of progressive alt rock growing up.

The beauty of a song like "Misfit Toy Box" is that it's able to take several different subgenres and blend them into one song and by doing so she creates an atmosphere that really comes through robust and lush, flowing but still packing a punch.

The guitar work is classic '90s old rock toned and you get elements of everything from industrial to postpunk peaking its head through here and there but that mostly comes from the vibe and aesthetic of this track as you have this grungy guitar riff that pushes the song forward you also have these vocals that add a layer of not only texture, but melody on top of everything and so this is the kind of song that you can really end up getting engulfed in.

It's been quite some time since I've heard a track like this, and I love this blend of different influences that come into place. Again, I grew up listening to a lot of different stuff but this kind of postponed, alt rock vibe was what I was into the most, but the cool thing is with a song like this you can hear everything from The Cure which would be part of that postpunk era, to the Deftones, and more. Being able to roll all those into one track and have it been so forward moving is awesome.

Now if you're into bands like that then you'll know what I'm talking about when I say things like the guitar tone being soaked in chorus effect so that it swims around in the song's ether.

This is the kind of staple that I mean when I say being influenced by those kinds of genres and bands.

Either way, this track does have its own spin and its own feel, it's on atmosphere, and its own breed of authenticity because it doesn't need feel like there's a piece of her that's given with this track. As far as I can tell everything is helmed by Judy DeAngelis who's originally a Cleveland native and I'm pretty sure she writes everything.

I'm not sure if she records all the instruments and does all the performances but I know that she writes everything, and she definitely puts a lot into what she's doing because the song has soul.

And again, this sort of aesthetic is absolutely captured perfectly throughout this track to the point where it made me want to dig deeper and find out more. When I did that, I came across an EP from 2021 called Sunset Revelations that was absolutely amazing and a track release previously to this one called "Eat, Pray, Love".

If you like one track, you're going to fall in love with all of them and this is again, because she's able to produce this atmosphere and vibe so well but I think it just comes to her naturally when she's doing her thing. I certainly adore this release and will be paying a lot of attention to anything else that comes from this artist from here on out.

This was edgy, a little dark, very vast, atmospheric, it had tons of character which is something that you end up latching on to very quickly, and it was like an ode to these influences that she drew from, and this is all part of what makes it so brilliant.

But don't take my word for it. Listen to the song. As a matter of fact, we've got the video right here below for you to do that so there's no excuses. Check this out right now.
