A single release from Soná and Oliver Lord delivers a beautiful and robust sort of soundscape that comes through vast and subtle but slowly grows in intensity as the music becomes more expansive and the vocals become more passionate, the song has a beautiful way of building in this sense and because of that not only do you gain a lot of understanding for the character behind this song but you also feel the emotional drive that serves as its backbone.
"To Trust Someone" feels like quite a personal track and I absolutely adore the way it delivers this sort of dream-esque tonality half the time so you get synth pads that float through the song's ether while the vocals are singing about a very relatable topic that a lot of us can understand so the longer you listen to the song and the deeper into it you go, the more you understand where it's coming from and this is something that becomes very connective.
The singer's ability to express certain kinds of thoughts into words and how he manages to articulate those words so well that you completely get what's going on.
This is because a lot of us come in and out of different situations have a lot of inner thoughts, and deal with different kinds of struggles both high and low. However, not a lot of us are able to actually articulate that into words let alone words and Music.
So, when you hear something like this in a way it feels like it could have served as part of the soundtrack to a certain chapter in your own life and that to me is a beautiful connection to make when you're listening to music.
I certainly feel like we need more music like this so that we can feel connected and maybe not alone in certain thoughts that we may have or struggles that we may go through.
For Soná and vocalist Oliver Lord, this feels like it may have been cathartic to write and release.
The whole thing is beautifully woven, and the vocals also grow in intensity with the music as it plays through, so you have that cinematic build, and you know it's going to hit that pinnacle of heavier emotion and it certainly does so at the end of the song you feel very satiated like you've gone through all the motions.
This was a great little escape because it does indeed pull you away from your surroundings and put you in someone else's head for just a little bit but again, at the same time, you also think of situations of your own or even have memories of your own pop into your head.
Soná is a multi-instrumentalist and loop artist who has been doing his thing in the London indie music scene since the summer of 2021 and has since headlined plenty of incredible venues along with bringing on Oliver Lord as lead vocalist which is where a lot of this intensity and passion comes from.
I certainly feel like these two are a match made in musical heaven because they are amazing at complimenting each other and having a natural and forward-moving flow musically.
This was a beautiful song that let both musicians shine and throughout it all you get pieces of character, personality, and honesty, and you also get thrown into this atmosphere that has a way of wrapping itself around you and keeping you right where it wants to.
I suggest checking this track out with headphones on so you can really soak in everything that it has to offer and pick up on all the different elements throughout its playthrough.
Dive into this one and see what you feel.
