A new release from Grammy-nominated and winner, Matt B delivers a massive array of gorgeous and vast soundscapes as he's joined with Philharmonic Orchestra and more to create something that speaks volumes in terms of sentiment, purpose, and message.
ALKEBULAN II is the second installment in the artists ALKEBULAN series and you can tell by listening to it how it's culturally driven and fiercely pushes boundaries with amazing displays of message portrayal and presence.
The album is part of a short film release and delivers a range of emotion and brilliance for both your eyes and ears.
The singer and songwriter put a lot of heart into this record and as I mentioned before, there's so much vast soundscape, landscape, layers of brilliant tonality, and just this unique, almost world music feeling essence that oozes out of every track.
Throughout this record you have beautiful vocals performed by choruses along with Matt, spoken words that send those messages deeper and further, and amazing percussion that really adds this bountiful and almost roots /rustic approach to the songs.
These songs are beautiful and will absolutely wrap themselves around you and it's very easy to get engulfed by all of these songs but, this is an album you listen to all the way through.
The range of emotion, mood, tone, texture, and persona all create such thick atmospheres for you to swim through and I think this is part of the purpose of the album and the film itself.
You have elements of afrobeat, R&B, World, ethereal, and more all rolled into this one record and again, it's so culturally relevant and potent that you can't really turn away from it.
The release is a celebration of Matt's African heritage but brings together idealism for everyone to come together.
The album is sonically addictive and once you step into this atmosphere, you don't want to leave.
I have to admit, this is unlike anything I've heard before. Being able to create a relevance for his heritage by utilizing his skills to create is boundless in a way.
There's no way listening to this album will not affect you. You can feel the heart flowing through these songs. You want to get out of your chair and sing along with some of these melodies because they're so intense and Lush that you want to join in that chorus.
I also really enjoyed how he brings other musical attributes into that culturally colorful set of sounds.
I think this is a beautiful thing. Being able to display how much something means to you no matter what it is is an important aspect to this whole project and it goes to show that others who write, record, or film, can also do those things with a lot of their own heart and in doing so, they can portray their message to the masses.
This was a powerful release that I suggest you listen to all the way through so you can really get a grasp on all that it has for you to experience.
And that's what this is. This is an experience for you to have. This is a journey that Matt wants to take you on and it's a beautiful one with amazing performances from all aspects.
Wonderfully balanced dynamic to this whole release and it really pulled me right in and kept me in line with what that sentiment, heritage, and purpose was.
