Black Opal Deliver A memorable Rock Album

Writer: R.A.G.R.A.G.

A brand-new release from Black Opal boasts a soiree of heavy rock soundscapes, inventive and addictive guitar work, and an almost live performance style energy that creates a big push and drive throughout the entire record.

The Divine Accusations album blends heavy-handed alternative rock with elements of classic metal, indie rock, and plenty more by taking slightly different directions with some of the songs.

Songs like " I Can't Stand It" come in with an addictive bouncing guitar riff and a great reverb effect on the vocals that lend a hand to classic hard and heavy rock but still keep to some of the staple sounds that the album boasts as a whole.

"Hit The Lights" is a track that wastes very little time grabbing your attention with a more ferocious and heavier-sounding riff along with slide guitars creating a great hook and a bit of a loose feel. These are some of the elements that make the record feel alive.

There are more than a few surprises throughout the unfolding of this album and one of my favorite tracks is called "Catching the Butterfly" which takes a more pop and indie rock route. This is a colorful track that comes through catchy but still has some of that edginess in its undertone.

It's acoustic guitar-based but still features some great slide guitar work which adds more of that depth to the record. There are a lot of layers and different tonalities that are bread throughout the album and it's one of those records that you listen to from beginning to end to really soak everything in the way it was meant to be.

You can hear a slew of different influences coming into play throughout the record robust tones, along with those pop-coated rock singles all come into play as you listen through.

The guitar tones vary and change throughout the songs based on what they are writing but they always have a good level of edginess that showcases the band's harder rock backbone.

There's definitely a lot to take in and doing it at a good volume level is imperative. Some of these tracks are sing-along bangers while others are more cinematic and have some emotion behind them.

I certainly love the diversity and heavy rock songwriting that this album encompasses, and it just goes to show you this is a band with a real love for writing songs together.

At times, you get a very arena-rock feel which is something very welcoming for me, and no matter what the vibe or aesthetic of the song is at the time, they are always nailing that sound.

You can tell this album took some time and that there was a lot of attention to detail paid while they made it but, they kept this amazing energy and persona throughout it all which really lets the record thrive.

The vocals are robust, belting, or performed softer when they want to. If the song has a bit more emotion or tone, the vocals can often be softer and catchier with the melodies.

The closing track, "History" really works wonders to Showcase how they can write a song that has a vastness to it. This track has great guitar work and is expansive and very cinematic if you ask me.

It's also a great closing to the album because if you listen all the way through, you've just gone through this gigantic musical journey with different chapters and this final track does a great job of closing that book.

It's all gracefully performed, especially when it's a ballad-style song but no matter what approach you get, it's always pretty infectious. I feel like the different band members bring in their own musical influences creating something special.

This was a massive rock release and has something for everybody. Very radio-friendly tracks to songs that hit hard and come at you with inventive guitar work and Powerful vocals.

Take a deep dive into this record and see what it does for you.
