A recent album release from Elephonic delivers a pop-rock energy and brightness but brings in heavy-handed classic rock influence at the same time while giving off a character that you become attached to over the course of the record all done with a certain level of heart that really gets you wrapped up in everything.
The self-titled album is packed with that persona which is one of the biggest impacts of the record because this is what gets you feeling like a lot of this stuff comes from honest places making the record very authentic.
One of my personal favorite things about it is that classic rock tonality because everything has this aesthetic to it that makes the record almost feel like it's been around since the late 70s.
This is a real major attribute to the record having so much outstanding appeal to it because that's the soundscape the artist was going for in the first place and all these tracks are built and recorded with a real love for the craft because you can hear a lot of intricacies and attention to detail throughout the record, but it never loses that heart no matter what.
They're definitely a few surprises there and there are layers that you can peel back throughout the course of the record which I personally enjoyed but there are tracks here that really create an impactful feeling for me.
Another thing about this record is that it feels like the songs connect with each other in a strange way almost like it's a concept album.
Of course, I could be wrong about that but, there is this feeling of making sure you want to listen to the whole record.
There are definitely more than a handful of singles that do extremely well on their own but I think listening to this album from beginning to end is the proper way to really soak it in.
Now I know what you're thinking, who has time for that anymore right?
This is part of the problem and nowadays because we've become such a single-based society musically none of us really put aside time to really listen to a full album like this.
We need to do that.
This record has a lot of catchiness to it and hooks both musically and vocally all over the place but to really get the proper understanding, it should be listened to as a whole.
This is another aspect that I really love about it because it forms a little bit of escapism for you.
It's like a good book where you can step out of your own world and into this rock and pop journey.
The guitar work is something I definitely loved about this record because it's performed perfectly and again, that tone on the guitars really nails that classic rock aesthetic so well.
There's a lot to dig into with this record and I would suggest doing it with some headphones on, but you can also dance along, sing along, and believe me, you will definitely begin hearing certain parts of this record bouncing around in your head for a long after the songs have ended.
That to me is just smart songwriting.
A lot of times the only way to satiate that is to listen to it again.
This was a wonderful combination of classic and pop rock that really had a driving force behind it but knew how to come through with a subtle balance dynamic.
We would definitely give this an 8 out of 10, to say the least.
