A new single release from Lachy John And The Red Bellies delivers a very unique breed of honesty as he lets inner thought out throughout the entire track and this really is a huge part of why you get attached to the song. This is a track that's got a massive personality and character attached to it and for Lachy John, it feels like this may have been quite cathartic to write and release but for people that are listening to it, it may be very relatable especially if they're experiencing the same kinds of thoughts and feelings that go along with wanting to get away and just escape society at times.
"Dreaming" has both light and dark attached to it and embodies a range of emotion that you can really feel in your bones because it's a song about wanting to leave the place you're in with dreams of a better one. But it's also a song about generally wanting to get away from a lot of society as a whole because it's feeling so tainted at times.
I love the honesty level of this track because it's so straightforward it's not metaphorical at all. It's just right in your face and you can take it as you want, and I love this because it's brave.
I think it takes guts to release a song like this because he's just letting it all out and any kind of art form where the artist is letting everything out this way is beautiful.
It's got more meaning because there are no boundaries or walls built around it.
What are the other things I love about this track is the music itself simply because it's got these lyrics that express so much strong emotion and thought and the music grows into this really vibrant colorful sort of style where it blends a contemporary rock element with funk, a little bit of jazz, and it feels good.
I'm a big fan of songs that have this sort of uplifting and spirited musical approach while the lyrics are so brutally honest.
I feel like that's such a great combination and makes songs come through so authentic.
That's a perfect word for what this track is. This is one of the more authentic tracks I've heard in a long time.
You've got elements of folk rock, pop rock, pop in general, you got funky bass lines, amazing guitar work, harmonica, and the vocals are so passionate and genuine that you end up getting attached to that aspect as well.
I feel like you do get attached to that personality and the premise and sentiment of the song as well because again, it's very relatable to a lot of people.
I think that a lot of us feel like we want to escape from our surroundings because we know that there's more. We dream of a place where things are a little different.
I also feel like a lot of us don't know how to express those kinds of thoughts or emotions so when you hear a song like this and you listen to a band like this, it's really outstanding.
It makes a difference simply because we may have those kinds of thoughts but a lot of us don't know how to articulate that into words let alone words and music so therefore, tracks like this are relatable and have meaning to us.
I love how straightforward the song is and the energy across the entire song is outstanding almost as if it was recorded live and everyone involved were feeding off of each other the entire time.
I love getting that energetic and electric vibe from a song like this because that aspect is infectious as well. The song is super danceable and makes you want to move.
I feel like there was a lot of attention to detail that went into this track, but it also has so much genuine heart that it hits a certain way.
This was a very memorable track and it does indeed end up bouncing around in your head for hours after the song has ended and upon listening to it I certainly did take a little bit of a deep dive into the band's back catalog which was a great idea because they have a few other singles released previous to this one and both of those singles show slightly different sides to how the band Works, their songwriting approaches, and what they're willing to let out in terms of that inner thought and emotion.
I am definitely going to be paying a lot more attention to Lachy John And The Red Bellies from here on out and certainly look forward to whatever they're coming out with after this.
Have a good listen to this track when you can and see how it affects you because I'm sure it will.
