Dublin artist Marie-Thérèse releases stunning new track "P21 (REV IT UP)"

The legend Iggy Pop is a big fan, he premiered the track on his BBC 6 Radio show.

The Godfather of Punk gave his enthusiastic stamp of approval to the track, the lyrical concept and the artist Marie-Thérèse.

‘It’s really nice to hear a song about a big brother’s record collection’

Recorded in Bristol, England and produced by the seminal producer Stew Jackson (Massive Attack)

This is a driving new single that hits with such a classic fuzz tone edginess that it feels almost warmly nostalgic in its own sense and through it all you get a vivacious swagger that sticks strongly throughout the unfolding of it all and this gives the track robust character and attitude.

The new track is titled "P21(REV IT UP)" and wastes very little time hitting you with an infectious beat which was originally inspired by a track called "Teen Beat" by Sandy Nelson back in 1959.

So, right off the bat you're gaining an idea of just a glimpse of the kind of stuff that influences this artist, and you never know where a great artist can pull influence from.

You can clearly tell there's a lot of classic rock, post-punk, and garage rock inspiration coming from this song as it emanates this robust and welcoming edginess that is also insanely danceable and addictive so, you end up wanting to sing along with your fists in the air but also dance around the room with this track.

Produced by Stew Jackson, this has that classic rock drive and attitude written all over it which speaks volumes for Marie-Thérèse as an artist simply because you really have to get into character to pull this off with the right aesthetic.

For her, however, it feels seamless. As if she was born to do it.

Listening to this song is almost nostalgic in a sense because the aesthetic of it takes you right back to this swag punk rock from the late 70s and early '80s. That underground rock scene which later became a bit more prevalent.

She pulls from all these different places, and it really works in her favor because she does actually have that presence in her performance, especially on this song in particular.

Obviously, we're not the only ones who feel this way seeing that Iggy Pop himself endorsed the track on his BBC 6 radio show.

Now, when you have Iggy Pop, himself endorse your track, you're onto something good.

That's the stuff legends are made of.

So, you have a slew of great rock-based influences that flood in and out of this track, it's driving, fun, animated, super charismatic, and has that hint of rambunctiousness that lets you know you better turn it up or not listen at all.

I also love this almost youthful drive there is. It's got a bit of rebellion in there and the choruses showcase that well.

The whole thing encompasses and embodies This brilliant aesthetic that blends old and new together. Classic punk and rock with garage-toned and character-riddled approaches along with a catchy rhythm.

This is a very memorable track and has a way of just sticking around in your brain.

If you listen to this song first thing in the morning it'll set the tone for the entire day.

It's fun and addicting, doesn't let up for a second, and incorporates all these great elements that give it lush layers in a way. For example, there are organs that come in along with clapping in the rhythms and the beats, there's just a ton going on but it all falls right into place and lets you get down with it.

Her vocal performance is everything here. This gives it that swag and lets it hit the right way.

What's great is how the energy between the music and the vocals balances out so well.

It's almost like one drives the other. This pushes the whole song to where it needs to be.

So, in conclusion, definitely listen to this track. Because of this article, do it because Iggy wants you to.

Imagine Iggy Pop was your friend, and he came over to your house and said "Hey man listen to this track". You would do it.

While you're at it, you can and certainly should check out her previous release, which is a Prince cover no less.

Yeah, you read that right.

So, I'll leave you with that. I will also leave you with her Spotify. This way you can listen to the song just below, so you have no other excuses.

Enjoy this.
