Mythology - The Story of Sound

BIO:

Mythology is the brainchild of Brynen Sosa who started the project in 2007 at 20 years old. It began with a soft spot for progressive rock ever since hearing the first YES record when he was younger. ​Hearing the guitar work of Steve Howe changed him. The thought of one man covering so much ground was mind blowing and sent his own creative flow into overdrive. ​

After a few lineup changes and 5 albums, The Story of Sound serves as a testament to where the band is at with their sound right now. 

Broken up into 4 sections, the album is a whopping 29 tracks and delves deep into a vast storyline. 

"The story starts out in a faux biblical time where music is invented by a man named Lord Force Blorgerstein. Blorgerstein is then worshipped by all around him for this new sound creation, much to his chagrin. His message is spread far and wide by the people of the village. In a meta twist, my own personal life runs in tandem with the story of Blorgerstein, as I’m creating the story being told. This includes anywhere from the misadventures of my cat, waking up for my day job early in the morning, having a family and a child, being a working musician, and problems with mental health. At times, the story of Blorgerstein and myself run parallel, and weave in and out of one another. While he is the man who invented music itself, I am a man who invents his own music. 

It’d be remiss of me to not mention co-producer/mixer/engineer Shane Stanton over at Glower Studios in Boonton, NJ, who largely helped put this record together. The album was mostly recorded at Glower, as well as my own personal home recording space in Vernon township, NJ. Jordan and Dave also helped with some recordings at their respective home setups. It really was an all-hands-on-deck situation! The album is structured in 4 large movements, which we recorded individually once every season. This went from July 2022 to April 2023. The change of season brought interesting perspective to each movement. Sometimes, having time to reflect is what gives something its beauty. I felt the change of seasons brought different, even deeper meaning to each movement, and what they represent," says Sosa of the premise behind the record.
