Nxxses returns with a full EP and this release has its own atmosphere engraved into it, and that soundscape and feeling is something that quickly crawls under your skin as the record delivers a haunting and edgy hip-hop approach that feels invasive but is also super well done so you get something that's unique and it's approach but also delivers that thick character.
The Antimatter EP creeps with devilish beats and this dark theme especially musically as the synths, keys, and pads of the track all give you this unsettling tonality in a way.
It's all catchy and it's all edgy but there's something discolored about it so that it makes you look over your shoulder almost like when you're watching a horror movie, and you get that feeling.
This release is quite a wild ride, but it really takes you into a different world together. It's one of those releases where you should be listening to it from beginning to end so that you can soak it all in the way it was meant to be.
All the beats are kind of on the slower side but they hit really hard with kicks that come through sharp and cut through the songs giving them an extra heaviness.
The whole record has a vastness and its underbelly and also does indeed actually hit quite hard with vocals that are sort of grueling almost like vocals of a death metal band would sound.
This is my favorite attribute of the whole project. That vocal approach is super hardcore, and the music has that haunting edginess to it, so those two elements together really let the record come through with a very outside-the-box but unique approach to, in my opinion, blending and bending genres.
You just feel different after listening to this record and I think it's very cool because you don't often get that. You don't often get to listen to a record that spans only four tracks but has the ability to put you in a sort of trance.
That's what this release does. It has a way of putting you in a trance and you become engulfed in it because of how it sounds.
The lyrics are pretty hardcore but they can also be pretty honest at the same time just in a heavy-handed way.
I like this too because I like a lot of the avant-garde and outside-the-norm approaches when it comes to a lot of kinds of music.
I feel like this is an EP that hits hard in its own way but has this addictive aspect to it that makes you want more as soon as it's over.
For me, I had to sort of snap myself back into reality after the record ended because it wrapped itself around me so well.
This was experimental and different but when I listened to it, it felt perfectly normal like it's an everyday thing. That's because of the way he pulls it all off. These songs have a strangely forward-moving flow to them and although you haven't heard something quite exactly like this before, or at least I haven't, it still feels natural and normal when you listen to it because he's so good at doing it.
This was experimental and broke some boundaries in a way and the lyrical phrasing of everything was very well thought out and performed with that strange aggressiveness and haunt that the entire record encompasses so the whole thing has its own theme and feel.
This is super worth listening to because it's its own thing.
Check this record out as soon as you can and listen to the whole thing which is only about 9 minutes long so don't tell me you don't have the time.
Trust me, it's well worth it and I feel like it works for so many people that it might not matter if you're into metal, rap, or anything else.
See how you feel about this release.
