Rosko Piko Delivers an Honest and Warm Record

A new album from Rosko Piko delivers a refreshing brand of honesty that comes through in the form of these lush and full-bodied but very personal songs and throughout it all you get elements of folk, singer-songwriter, contemporary pop, Soul, and Americana but it's all rolled into this one record that somehow feels incredibly confluent and forward moving.

Throughout the Beautifully Wasted album, you get glimpses of the artist's personality because he gives pieces of himself with each different song and as you go through the record and it unfolds, you start to get a feeling that each of these songs serves almost like a chapter in his life.

When you pay attention to the details you can really tell that these come from genuine places and a lot of them have to do with emotionally driven inner thought that seems to come out and overflow throughout this record.

There is a folk-rock tonality to this record as well and that shines through plenty. This is driven by piano and guitar along with this full body and robust set of instrumentation that gives these songs a lot of life.

Of course, these aren't without their pop elements either because there are a lot of hooks and courses that end up sticking in your head for hours or sometimes even days after the songs have ended and this is something that can only be satiated by listening to them again.

To me, that's just a smart songwriting but I feel like for Rosko Piko, it's just the natural way of writing and doing things.

This is a perfect example of an album that you should really listen to from beginning to end. Not just because it's so connective but also because if you only listen to one or two songs then you're not really getting the full spectrum of what the entire album has to offer as a whole.

There are beautifully cinematic songs, songs that feel like live performances, and there is this sort of wonderful and welcoming warmth to a lot of these that make them feel very good to listen to.

A lot of this comes not only from the instrumentation but from the vocals as well because his performance is passionate and real.

None of this is over the top but it's super well balanced dynamically and emotionally.

I think a record like this takes a certain amount of bravery because there's so much honesty in it and some of the songs can actually be quite descriptive lyrically.

After listening to the whole record, I feel like it may have even been cathartic for the artist to write and release but for the listener, a lot of the songs are actually very relatable.

Some of these songs actually cause memories of your own to pop into your head and for me, that's very connective and you don't get it often so hearing it now is very refreshing.

And there was definitely attention to detail during the creation of it however, it never loses this heart or this character that it was built with in the first place and that may be the most important aspect of the entire thing.

The keys and guitar work are both outstanding and really give that element of drive that the record needs to push the envelope so that it ends up exactly where it was meant to be.

And again, a lot of this feels like songs that you can hear in the scene of a movie or a TV show because of that honesty and some of the emotional drive behind them.

This was a very in-depth sort of record and again, I would strongly suggest you listen to the entire thing because then it becomes more of a full experience, and you get all the stories that are involved.

Take a deep dive into the Beautifully Wasted album as soon as you can, and I would suggest even doing so with headphones on if you can.

This helps you really soak in everything that's going on.

This record affected me in a few different ways so I would suggest listening to it and seeing how it affects you.
