Sar Kalmer's Long Awaited Album Has Arrived

Sar Kamler has just released a long-awaited full-length album and this record, from beginning to end, delivers such a beautiful array of colors, textures, culture, and character that it's something you need to soak in from start to finish otherwise you might miss out on some of the beauty that it has to deliver.

Listening to one or two tracks from this album will not truly give you the full spectrum of what the record as a whole has to offer and believe me when I tell you, there's a lot to offer here, especially in terms of a robust and wondrous, sometimes fantastical, gracefulness and beauty that emanates from so many of these tracks through collaborations, amazing arrangements, and this sort of vibe that's captured in the aesthetic of the record.

The Butterfly: Colors of Armenian Duduk album takes you on some amazing musical journeys and with each song you are almost whisked away to a different place altogether and this is something that lets the album feel massive in the best ways possible.

The Armenian Duduk is a double-reeded woodwind instrument that gives off such a beautiful and lush sound that has a way of just flowing through other textures but also mending with them at the same time.

This is Sar's instrument of choice, and it has such a way of coming through with a sort of delicate softness but also has a certain kind of thickness in its tonality as well that feels warm giving these songs a sort of welcoming feeling at times.

Although the album is focused on this instrument, what really gets you is the amazingly eclectic and brilliantly cultured array of songs that you actually hear throughout this release.

There's so much amazing percussion and other instrumentation that's happening throughout the record from piano to accordion, guitar, and just an endless list of these colorful and gorgeous instruments that bring this album to life.

There are no two songs that express the same feeling or emotion. There are no two songs that are super alike with each other. Yes, there is a glue that holds this record together so that it's confluent, forward moving, and flowing.

However, there are so many surprises around the corner songs that hit differently than the last. This is a true musical journey and if you listen to the album, it's an amazing escape as it does indeed pull you away from whatever you're doing and whatever you are and puts you in these different worlds.

The production of the record is outstanding and it's not just black and white. There are experimental sections, there are elements that you don't expect, and there are just bright and brilliant approaches to the production, that let the songs feel freeing and put you in the moment.

Absolutely listen to this record as soon as you can and I would heavily suggest you go for the entire thing.

This is an album meant to be listened to with headphones on from beginning to end so that you can really just kick back and enjoy all of the beauty that it actually has to offer.

You may come out of it with a different piece of mind, and I think that's part of the point.

I hope you enjoy this as thoroughly as I did, and you gain some emotional balance from listening to it because that's kind of what happened to me.

I think everyone will take this music in a little bit differently, however, have a listen for yourself.
