Spotlight Interview with Autumn Knight

Autumn Knight just gave us a crisp and vibrant summertime single that hits all the pop sweet spots and gives off such a bright and endlessly catchy vibe.

"Another Day" is incredibly danceable and touches on a cross between a euro-dance style and a retro-pop approach and the chorus has this vividly painted picture to it that feels like a sunny and inspirational feel.

This track sort of makes you feel like you can do anything, and you should get up, get out and do it now. It's up lifting and has this limitless life experience, grab the day while you're alive vibe.

And it all feels super good to listen to nice and loud too.

This is a top-down cruising down the street, palm trees blowing by, wind high, sun beaming down single.

Knight has a way of getting you wrapped up in her vision. You feel like the song is meant for you. So, you should listen.

Her style of pop music songwriting is freeing and refreshing to put it lightly.

It's got this hands in the air brightness that shows such character and presence that it's quickly addicting honestly.

The single has this colorful tonality to it that makes you want to get up and dance around the living room or shake your ass in your seat while you drive along.

Either way you're going to get caught up in this one.

With such a great single we wanted to have a quick chat with Autumn Knight just to see where this all comes from and what may be coming next for the artist.

Here's what went down.

RAG: Okay so let's start with "Another Day". This track had a cinematic synth-pop feel to it! Where did this single come from? I hopped in the studio with my partner Curt Hovland, producer/friend Austin Shawn and friend Knox Morris and we co-wrote the song the 4 of us! We were all vibing on the times. It's been a wild couple years for everyone and a lot of people are still feeling isolated and tired of the same routine over & over again. We want this song to be empowering and a message of living life to the fullest. Don't waste another day. Have an adventure, take that trip and enjoy life. We had different images in our heads when writing the song. Jumping out of planes sky diving, driving a fast car, diving into the ocean… feeling fearless. I think a lot of people can relate to this song. It has a post pandemic feel with all the summer energy. ‘Another Day’ features Hovland on vocals as well. We had a lot of fun singing this duet together. RAG: I'm hearing some great styles on this release. Who are some of your biggest musical influences? Dua Lipa, Lennon Stella, Joni Mitchell, Lana Del Rey, The Weeknd, Adele, Chelsea Cutler, Maggie Rogers, Sasha Sloan, Julia Michaels and the list goes on and on. RAG: So how did this all begin for you really? When did you fall in love with making music? I was singing before I could talk. I started playing piano and taking voice lessons at the age of 10. My parents instantly knew I was meant to be a performer. My singing and piano coach Peggy Lebo taught me the foundation of songwriting and creating strong melodies with emotional connection. I started listening to Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan and was fascinated with writing piano and vocal. I fell in love with making music through that process. After highschool I went to Berklee College of Music in Boston and graduated 4 years later with a Bachelor in Music with a focus on Vocal Performance and Songwriting. I am so grateful for that experience. It def helped shape me into the artist and person that I am. After college I moved back to Los Angeles and spent many years immersed in the music scene there. I then moved to Nashville "Music City" about 6 years ago. The musicianship in this town is next level. Love this city and all it's magic. RAG: What's next for you as an artist? We are going to continue to release singles and get on tour! Stay tuned. RAG: What inspires you to write a song? Life. I get most of my inspiration from personal experiences. I also get inspired by songs from artists that I love. RAG: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music? I am also an actor and currently auditioning for opportunities in film & tv. I love social media and so grateful for the opportunity to connect with my fans. Follow me on Instagram @autumnknight_ to see my daily flow. RAG: Who are you listening to right now? Bob Moses, Dua Lipa, Lennon Stella, Emily Weisband, Sarah Reeves, Nina Nesbitt, San Halo, Kygo, Kaskade, Adele, Justin Bieber, etc. Bob Moses is a new band I discovered recently listening to our local radio station in Nashville Lightning 100. Love how they incorporate electronic music with a singer songwriter feel. Lennon Stella’s vocals are so smooth and heart centered. She just really draws you in. Vocal driven songs inspire me so much. Dua Lipa’s disco influenced sound is super fun and just makes you wanna dance. Love how all the artists I mentioned just make you feel good. RAG: Are you doing live performances? Yes! We are working on some live shows in Nashville. So excited to perform all our new music live!! The goal is to get on tour now that the world has reopened. RAG: This single seems like a big undertaking. What kind of advice might you have for other up and coming artists out there? Keep it real and sing from the heart. Authenticity takes you far in life. Work hard, be relaxed and enjoy the journey. Your fans will feel vibes and can tell if you are connected to what you are doing. People are craving connection and heart more then ever these days. Work on your craft every day and surround yourself with like minded people that you trust. It's important to have a team of people that you work with that understand the soul of the music and your vision. Be passionate and take care of your mind and body. Live shows and long studio sessions are a lot of energy so make sure you take time to refuel. Journal and create a plan. Set goals for yourself every week and take steps towards achieving. With hard work, heart and patience... anything is possible. RAG: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music? Spread kindness and love. Can't wait to see you at the live shows!
