Spotlight Interview With copper Moon

Updated: Mar 26, 2021

The latest single released from Copper Moon gives that real deal classic rock tone with deep driving, bending guitar sounds, and a smooth and alluring vocal approach that hooks you right in.

"Chemical" has that MC5 meets The Doors vibe and it works super well simply because the band has the love for the genre running through their veins.

The track has swagger and style. It's got attitude and and a raw energy that's tough to get past.

The song is fun and even danceable but it's a track to swoon over as well. It's got that alive and breathing feeling to it and makes you think of a 70's house party with all the drugs, booze, and girls you can think of.

It's a rock star song and it's nailed. The sound and aesthetic of what these guys are going for is spot on and it's a beautiful thing to hear.

This track feels great to listen to from start to finish and their other recent single releases are no exception.

We wanted to have a chat with Copper Moon to find out more. So we did just that.

RAG: Okay lets start with "Chemical". This track has a genuine classic rock style to it and its incredibly authentic. Where did this song come from?

CM: The song is about a toxic relationship between two people. The speaker is coming from a perspective that he is his lover’s chemical. Almost like he’s the herion of her life that is emotionally, mentally and physically killing her. So he hurts his lover but, then tries to make up for it just to keep her a little longer

RAG: I'm hearing some killer rock styles here. Who are your biggest musical influences?

CM: Fuck! We have such a wide variety of taste. All the way to Van Halen, AC/DC, Alice In Chains, Queens of the Stone Age and the whole grunge scene. Also, basically all outlaw country and old school country. Today’s country is not country let that be known. But, we don’t stick to one genre we are creating a genre.

RAG: How did this all start for you guys?

CM: We’ve been life long friends that have always been bouncing in and out in different bands with each other. Then in March of 2020 before this pandemic we all decided to give this shit another try. Ever since then we’ve only been producing positive outcomes even during all the difficult times.

RAG: What sort of things inspire you to write?

CM: What inspires us with song writing is that music today has no soul. All these djs hitting buttons but, can’t play an instrument makes us sick. We want by write about real life, heaven and hell, good times, bad times and the weird places.

RAG: Do you guys get together to rehearse?

YCM: Yeah, well at least we try to but, covid obviously dampened our fire a bit but, we get together as much as we can. Definitely it was an obstacle.

RAG: Will you be putting any focus on live shows when the time comes?

CM: Well we already got our little shows set up. We are ready to go full force once it opens up.

Just waiting for that opportunity to push it hard.

RAG: What's next for you as a band?

CM: We just want to do, what we do, well. We want to change whatever we can. Hopefully in the process people catch on and see that we are as real as it gets. We believe the work we do provides the truth for itself. Just listen to our music, it’s real.

RAG: Who are you all listening to right now?

CM: Copper Moon baby.

RAG: What are you all doing when you're NOT working on music?

CM: Work and struggle

RAG: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?

CM: Keep it tuned to Copper Moon because the storm is a commin!
